4 way Telecaster Mod Switch Demo/Review | fendertelecaster4you.com
Hi Ven9512, I’m just revisiting my old ’97 Korean Squier Tele with Kent Armstrong p’ups after a couple of years. This vid’ was inspirational and I’ll be doing the mod soon. Tip for all Telecaster fans: It’s well worth experimenting with your tone capacitor. Even with a cheap Tele, thinking outside the box as far as capacitor values is concerned (smaller value = brighter) can make a massive difference to your tone. Coupled with Ven9512s’ mod, this could amount to a classic keeper.
Agreed, it’s a very cool mod to do. I use it mainly as a lead boost or to thicken up my rhythm tone. I think if I were to do it again on my other tele I would go with the push pull version or the S-1 with the button on top of the volume pot. They all do the same thing but just in different switching configurations. Anyway, thanks for checking out my vid.
Funny you should ask. I’ve been looking to do the same myself. I love the single coil sound but am not crazy about the tele twang. My top choice are the Harmonic design Super 90 for the bridge and the Super Chrome for the neck. They look just like tele pickups but are made to sound like P90s. I also like the Seymour Duncan Five-Twos. They have more pronounced bass without harsh brittle treble.
