WILTON — Rolling Hills Country Club golf professional Sue Ginter made her third consecutive appearance in the Wegman’s LPGA Championship in Rochester, N.Y., last week.
Ginter, who has been a teaching professional at the Wilton golf club since 2006, qualified for the Wegman’s LPGA Championship by winning the LPGA Teaching & Club Professional Northeast Section Championship last fall.
She tees off at 1:43 p.m. today.
As an active member of the LPGA Tour from 1998-2005, Ginter posted two top-10 finishes and also won the LPGA Tour Qualifying Tournament. She has retained her LPGA Tour membership and occasionally plays in LPGA and Futures Tour events when her busy teaching schedule at Rolling Hills Country Club permits. She has won numerous professional titles since moving to the area, including the Connecticut Women’s Open, The MET PGA Section Match and Stroke Play Championships, and the LPGA T&CP National Mixed Team Championship with playing partner and former Rolling Hills professional Joe Bostic.
Ginter has also played in the last three Connecticut Men’s Open Championships, earning her place in the field by teeing it up from the same tees as the men in the local qualifiers.

Ginter currently lives in Redding, CT with her 7-year-old son.
The LPGA Championship tournament will be played at Locust Hill Country Club and each round was televised daily on The Golf Channel.
The Wegman’s LPGA Championship is one of the Ladies Professional Golf Association’s four major championships and carries a $2.5 million purse. Each year, 6 LPGA Club Professionals qualify to compete in the tournament by winning their respective section championships. Sue Ginter managed a rare “three-peat” in the LPGA Northeast Section Championship to earn her place in the LPGA Championship, where she will tee it up with the likes of Michelle Wie, Paula Creamer, defending champion Christie Kerr, and 150 other professionals from 21 different countries.
