The first leg of Phish's summer tour is officially over, and the reviews have been consistently positive. Trey and the gang hit Charlotte and Raleigh, NC before heading to Portsmouth, VA .

-- Encore: Wilson > Loving CupCrowd Atmosphere: Another torrential downpour, evacuation and pause in the show. All the phans were filled with excitement and dying to dance it off to a full set from their favorite band and they certainly did. I knew the boys could feel the excitement as well because the energy was bouncing around the room back and forth and off the trampolines like ping pong balls from note to note.
Best Song: Wolfman's Brother - An extreme crowd-pleaser!
Best Jam: A unique "You Enjoy Myself" that had everyone melting at some points.
Best Segue: Mike's Song > I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove
Sloppiest Moment: Backwards Down The Number Line - Possibly because it is frequently played. Despite being one of my favorites, I've seen much better.

Buy/download/pass: Any one who even thinks they like Phish should be racing to buy this and show the boys their support for the best show out of 30-something I've seen so far.
Encore: Good Times Bad TimesCrowd Atmosphere: Walnut Creek showcased an energetic crowd whose demographics ranged from the most storied of wooks to enthusiastic frat stars and everything in between. The combination of these seemingly dichotomous cultures, both aesthetically and behaviorally, might lead one to suspect a weird vibe during the show. Not the case. . . at all. Folks were friendly, cordial and having the time of their lives.
Best Song: Split Open and Melt
Best Jam: Split Open and Melt - The boys took an already enjoyable song and upped the ante even further with an exploratory jam that easily secured a place in my heart and mind as the technical highlight of the evening. Extended instrumentals and intricate teamwork amongst each band member helped to create a truly serene musical environment throughout the song's duration.
