Summer arts preview: Here's what entertainment is lined up around Flint this ...
If summertime in Flint means being on the bricks, consider the season officially here, with more to do than ever before.
This summer brings area favorites, of course — such as Back to the Bricks and Tunes at Noon — all with an added lineup of fresh events and new arts organizations hosting activities.
Much of the fun begins in the next week or two, just as the weather breaks.
JUNE
Now-Sept. 11 — The Cristen Velliky faculty exhibition will be on display from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at UM-Flint. It’s free to browse the exhibit in the UCEN Fine Art Gallery of the Harding Mott University Center, 303 E. Kearsley St., Flint. Details: 810-767-1863 or www.umflint.edu.
Now-June 5 — Swartz Creek Hometown Days’ theme this year is the 175th Birthday Bash. Baby contest, car show, live entertainment and the carnival are some festival highlights. Details: Click here .
Now-June 17 — The 53rd Annual Student Art Show is on display in the Fine Arts Gallery of the Visual Arts & Design Center on the Mott Community College main campus, 1401 East Court St., Flint.
