The Woodlands captures fourth consecutive Lone Star Cup
THE WOODLANDS, Texas â The Woodlands High School has won the Lone Star Cup for a fourth consecutive year and fifth in the last six years.The UIL Lone Star Cup is awarded annually to five high schools, one in each of the five UIL classifications (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A), based on their team performance in district and state championships. The winning schools in each classification will receive the UIL Lone Star Cup trophy and a $1,000 scholarship, also presented by the UIL.
Honoring the best overall athletic and academic programs in Texas, the UIL Lone Star Cup is open to all UIL participant high schools. Points are accumulated for state and area marching band, team tennis, cross country, volleyball, football, swimming & diving, wrestling, girlsâ basketball, boysâ basketball, soccer, golf, track & field, academics, one act play, softball, and baseball.
The Woodlands won with 114 points to second-place Southlake Carroll with 101 points. Lewisville Marcus was third with 70 points. The top five was rounded out by Midland (60) and McKinney Boyd (58). Arlington Martin and North Shore tied for sixth place with 52 points apiece. Fort Bend Clements, Kingwood and San Antonio Reagan all tied for eighth place with 50 points each.
The Woodlands boysâ cross country and softball teams captured state championships this year while the volleyball team advanced to the state finals and the boysâ swimming and diving team placed second at the state meet. In addition, the girlsâ swimming and diving team was fourth at the state meet and the girlsâ golf team also placed fourth at the state tournament.
Football, volleyball, boysâ and girlsâ basketball, boysâ soccer and baseball all won or shared district championships.

This season, Mussett moved back to catcher and had a great season, making first-team All-District and helping the Lady Eagles earn the third seed in District 18-4A despite the lack of experience. “This year we only had three seniors,” Mussett said.
In high school, she earned first team all-conference, all-district team, all-region team, all-region tournament and best defender awards. Cashala Thompson: 5-foot-7 guard, averaged 20 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals per game.
Lipe captained the state champion volleyball team and state runner-up basketball team and earned first-team, all-state tournament and all-state honors in both sports. She also finished third overall on the state championship cross country team,
The First Team All-District 5-4A selection led Aledo to a No.10 state ranking and an undefeated district season. Aledo fell to Canyon Randall in the Class 4A UIL Region I Semi Finals. Daniel claimed All-County (Parker) honors and was also named TGSA

A two-year starter that led Lincoln to the 2010 4A state championships, posted 138 tackles, five sacks, 17 TFL, seven INTs and nine PBU over his final two seasons. Tallied 42 tackles, three sacks, 11 TFL, an INT and six PBU as a senior . Notched 96 tackles, two sacks, six TFL, six INTs and three PBU as a junior. Also competed in basketball and track and field. His father, Chris Sr., was a high jumper at Florida A&M and his mother, Dodie, played basketball at Florida A&M
Ruben Gonzalez , Wide Receiver (6’2, 194) Robinson HS, Tampa, FL
A versatile all-state performer, who played both wide receiver and defensive back. Notched 85 receptions for 1,250 yards (14.7 ypc) and 15 TDs and 76 tackles, an INT and four PBU over his last two seasons. Tabbed Class 2A All-State First team and second-team all-Hillsborough County as a senior, tallied 46 receptions for 651 yards and seven TDs as a senior, added 34 tackles and two PBU as a defensive back. Earned honorable mention all-state and second-team all-Hillsborough County honors at wide receiver as a junior, posted 39 receptions for 599 yards and eight TDs, also notched 42 tackles, an INT, two PBU, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Brynjar Gudmundsson , Offensive Lineman (6’4, 285)
A three-year letterman, who earned Class 5A All-State Third team and all-county honors as a senior, tallied 36 pancakes and didn't allow a sack. Was one of the top prospects in the county and was ranked No. 27 prospect in Palm Beach County by the Sun Sentinel's top football prospects for the Class of 2011Also earned two letters in power lifting. Corian Hamilton , Linebacker (6’1, 220) Olympia HS, Orlando FL
A two-time all-Central Florida and all-county performer, tallied 269 tackles, nine sacks and 24 INTs during his three seasons. Named second-team all-Central Florida and first-team all-Orange County and was a Class 6A All-State Honorable Mention as a senior, also won the "True Titan" Award, posted 105 tackles, seven sacks and six INTs. Tabbed all-Central Florida and first-team all-Orange County as a junior, notched 89 tackles, two sacks and 10 INTs. Earned the team's outstanding player of the year award as a sophomore, tallied 75 tackles and eight INTs. Also earned three letters in basketball.
